“Moose And The Big Mess”
Series 2 Book 7: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved
It’s a bright fall day out in the sun
And moose is just out having fun,
When, in the woods to his surprise,
He heard a lot of shouts and cries.
He wondered what it all could be
And walked there slowly through the trees,
Only to find a human crowd
There in the woods, shouting out loud.
“Just pack things up and let’s move out”
A man yelled loud above the shouts.
“We have a long long way to go
And must get there before it snows.”
So moose just watched them pack their goods
And march off deep into the woods.
But, something else was still left there.
The trash was laying everywhere.
Moose saw the mess, which made him sad.
He knew that this was very bad.
There should be something he could do.
Then down to join him, two geese flew
“Hey! Moose! What brings you way out here?”
“This mess the campers made, I fear.
Strangers have come into our land
And left their trash. See, there it stands.
What do you think that we can do?”
Geese said, “Let’s go and get our crew.”
So back they all went through the woods
To bring their friends back if they could.
First, walrus joined them with a slide,
Then three bears from the river’s side.
The friends now totaled seven all,
Then walked down toward the waterfall.
They found two penguins having fun
And moose yelled loud, “You’ve got to come.”
So joining moose, the group now nine,
All knew that there were more to find.
And as they turned around to go,
Boy and girl saw them in the snow.
“Hey, wait for us” boy and girl said,
And followed as they pulled their sled.
Back to the camp where trash was piled,
Then bears said, “This will take a while.”
They piled the trash high on the sled
‘Til all was clean, then penguins said,
“Let’s take this all back to the town,
So there is no more trash around.”
Then boy and girl and all the friends
Just pushed and pulled the sled again,
Until they reached the human’s town
where a good place for trash was found.
The woods were cleaned and things were right,
As day was passing into night.
Then all the friends just went their way
To come and play another day.
When snowman saw that things were good,
He smiled at his clean neighborhood.
