“Moose, You Can’t Play Today”

The sun hung low on this fall day,

As all our friends were out at play.

Moose and Snowman upon their hill

Just stood and watched the fun, until

They saw the Geese come scurry by

With one of them about to cry.

Moose said, “Hey guys! What can be wrong?

Today’s a day for happy songs.”

“Penguins and Bears were playing games.

We tried to join and do the same,

But Penguins said we could not play.

We could not be their friends today.

It really hurt and made us sad.

Why would those Penguins act so bad?”

“Not sure,” said Moose, “But please don’t cry.

Snowman and I can watch you fly.

We like when you show off your skills.

I’ll bet you even get some thrills.”

So to the air the Geese flew high

And did their tricks across the sky.

Big loops and dives all ’round and ’round

And even flying upside down.

To Snowman’s Hill more friends came by

To watch the Geese up in the sky,

until the Penguins and the bears

Were the only friends who were not there.

Not far away that very same day

The Bears and Penguins were at play,

Until the Bears had to go home

And left the penguins all alone.

“We have no friends to play our games.

Just by ourselves it’s not the same.”

The Penguins wondered what to do.

“Let’s find the Geese and they’ll play too.”

Away they left to find some friends,

So they could play their games again.

On Snowman’s Hill they saw a crowd

Where everyone was yelling loud

And looking up into the sky.

The Penguins could not figure why.

Just then the Geese flew by the group,

Then flew up high and did a loop.

And as the crowd was yelling, “ooooo,”,

The Penguins asked, “Can we join too?”

Moose turned and said, “Why are you here?

We thought you did not want us near.

The Geese could not join in your game,

Now maybe we should do the same?”

The Penguins new that they were wrong.

Moose let them suffer, but not too long.

Moose said, “We’ll let you join our fun.

Then say you’re sorry when we’re done.”

Soon Geese flew down to end the show.

Then Penguins said, “We were mean, we know.

We’re sorry that we made you sad.”

And the friends all learned not to be bad.
