“Moose, It’s All About Me”

Series #2 Book #11: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved

It’s bright out in the daytime sun.

New penguin wants to have some fun,

So, out in search of all the friends

He went to snowman’s hill, and then

He found them dancing in a line

And did not even take the time

To ask if he could join their game,

Or wait for them to call his name.

“Hey! Look at me, I’m dancing too.

And I can sing like all of you”

New penguin said while running ’round

And knocking others on the ground.

Moose said,”Hey! Wait! That’s not the way

To join in if you want to play.

You’re welcome to come join the fun,

But you must share with everyone.”

New penguin said,”OK! I see.

The game’s not always about me.”

So in a line, they danced some more,

But moose was really not so sure

If this new penguin had yet learned,

To get respect, it must be earned.

So, all around the snowman’s hill,

Their line danced ’round and ’round, until,

The friends fell down into a pile.

Bears said,”Let’s rest here for a while.”

One walrus, moose, and three bears sat,

As two geese plopped on snowman’s hat.

The seven friends were all now still,

With only penguins on the hill.

Then, little penguin ran around

And knocked two others on the ground.

He said,”Hey! Come and follow me.

Let’s play hide-and-seek in the trees.”

Then walrus said,”Go do your best.

We’ll come find you after we rest.”

So, down he went into the woods

‘Til he was hidden very good.

But, time passed by and no one came.

Nobody tried to call his name.

None of the friends had come to see

New penguin hiding in the trees.

So now the sun was going down,

And new penguin was not around.

Walrus just said,”He went away.

It’s no fun when he comes to play.”

Moose said,”While that might just be true,

You should not try to hurt him too.

Two wrongs do not make something right.

Let’s find him now before it’s night.”

They came upon him quite by chance,

And found him sleeping ‘neath a branch.

Then as he woke, he yelled with glee.

“I hid real good, but you found me.”

“That is OK,” moose said and smiled,

“To learn two lessons takes a while.”
