“Moose, Accidents Will Happen”
Series #2 Book #10: by Ray Perseghin, Sara K Enterprises, ©All Rights Reserved
As fall fades now and winter’s near,
It’s been almost another year.
And all the friends were gathering
To run and jump and laugh and sing.
And as the shouts and singing grew
Two penguins came with someone new.
The friends all turned to look and see.
The penguins were not two, but three.
All coming quick to join the fun,
Faster than even moose could run.
Moose yelled,”Hurry and move now if you can,”
As penguins slid into snowman.
They hit him with a force so hard,
That snowman’s head on top was jarred.
It wobbled then came tumbling down,
Into a big pile on the ground.
And as the friends looked up to see,
The new penguin cried,”Don’t blame me.
Accidents will happen too.”
Moose said,”OK, let’s fix him new.”
So all the friends worked for a while,
‘Til once again the snowman smiled.
Then off they ran with their new friend,
‘Til trouble found them once again.
As three bears ran down by the stream,
They heard the little penguin scream.
Tumbling toward them very fast,
They knew they’d get hit as he passed.
Then, CRUNCH! He rolled across the ground
And hit the bears so they fell down.
The bears said,”Hey you! Can’t you see?”
The penguin just said,”Don’t blame me.
Accidents will happen too.”
Bears asked,”How come it’s always you?”
Moose said,”Let’s all not get upset.
No one has really been hurt yet.”
So one more time they went to run
Out in the snow, all having fun.
And one more time the trouble came,
But this time was not quite the same.
While looking down the mountain’s side,
New penguin said,”Now that’s a slide.”
Moose said,”It may look fun, that’s true,
But look real close. It could hurt you.
If you slide down that great big drop,
There really is no place to stop.
If accidents will happen too,
Then don’t help them to come find you.”
New penguin said,”Maybe you’re right.
We won’t slide down there out of sight.”
So back he ran fast as he can
And promised moose to make a plan
To always look before a leap
And not become a big snow heap.
Then snowman’s smile told moose somehow
Accidents should not happen now.
