This story covers a lot of ground in a very short time and was intentionally left open-ended to allow your group the opportunity to cover a wide range of topics. In its simplicity, it describes how two penguins take some rather bad advice from the geese, as the other friends look on. Our other friends have already recognized their own limitations. Following the fool-hardy jump and injury of one penguin, it is necessary to find help. So in this brief beginning, we have already addressed making poor decisions, listening to bad advice, recognizing our own limitations, consequences of our actions, emergencies, and first aid. Any one or combination of these topics can be discussed by your group.
One tactic would be to allow your group to relate situations, from their own playtime activities, where a challenge or ‘Dare’ was made, or even when an injury occurred during normal activity. In this discussion, some learning points should include:
